Alexandria Native and Centenary Grad Josh Johnson Takes the Helm at The Daily Show
A familiar Louisiana voice is about to step into one of late night’s most iconic chairs—and we couldn’t be more excited.
Josh Johnson, an Alexandria native and graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, will guest host The Daily Show this week, Tuesday through Thursday. After years sharpening his skills in the show’s writers’ room and recently earning a promotion to on-air correspondent, Johnson now joins a powerhouse bench of Stewart-era talent including Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic.
This is no small moment: Johnson has already racked up four Emmy nominations and dropped two brilliant stand-up specials, earning a national following for his whip-smart commentary, grounded storytelling, and uniquely Southern wit. And now, he’s stepping into the spotlight to steer one of the sharpest ships in satire.
As proud Louisianians, we’re cheering loud from SBCdirt! There’s something especially thrilling about seeing homegrown talent not just represented—but leading the charge—in one of comedy’s most influential spaces. Whether you’ve followed Josh since his Centenary days or are just now tuning in, this week’s episodes are a must-watch.
We can't wait to see what kind of late-night legend Josh becomes with the keys in hand.
